After a somewhat long and arduous process, I am pleased to announce that a hire has been made to fill the Youth Ministry position at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish. A total of six applicants applied for this position, each having various strengths that would be an asset to our parish. With a committee of professionals in related areas of ministry from the parish, an interview process took place. Following discussion, discernment and prayer, the position was offered to Jonah Soucy who accepted.
Jonah comes to us with a wealth of experience in the field of youth ministry and forming young disciples of Jesus. He has many gifts that I feel will lead our young people closer to the Lord while helping to foster the spiritual renewal of our entire parish. He will begin working with us on November 1st. I, along with staff members and parents who have met him, are anxious for Jonah to begin his ministry with us.
Though challenging, youth ministry is a very important part of parish life. Parents, family members, and anyone who follows the news today knows how complicated family life and today’s culture have negatively impacted the family unit and life in the Church. We all need to support families and especially our young people, in building a strong foundation in Jesus to meet the challenges of life. I am confident that by God’s grace and our commitment as a parish, we can make a difference in our young people’s lives by nurturing their rootedness in Jesus. In the end, isn’t that all that matters? Recognize too, that it is by the generous support of you — our many good parishioners, that significant hires like this can be made, and that we, as a parish family, take seriously the Lord’s great commission, to, Go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19)!
Please begin praying for Jonah in this new chapter of his ministry. And as always, please pray for unity and holiness in our families — especially in the lives of our young people. Life does present its challenges, but God is always greater! Praise and trust Him in all things!
